Critical Care Unit Serenity Garden: The Introduction of a Safe Space

Creating an Environment of Healing

In the Critical Care Unit of the hospital, tough decisions happen around the clock. Those decisions aren’t always made by physicians and nurses, sometimes they’re shouldered by a patient’s family. It is in those moments when clarity is critical that a space boasting fresh air, an opportunity for privacy, a peaceful garden and an environment to reflect in prayer can be essential. Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville aims to create a space that focuses on community, family and faith. For yourself, for your family or for someone within our community, tomorrow may be the day serenity makes all the difference.

Putting the Human Spirit at the Center of Generosity

With an emphasis on meeting the needs of staff and community members, the new Serenity Garden at Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville will include:

  • Complete renovation of a 3,253 square foot space to provide a peaceful outdoor garden environment including teak seating, low-height trees and shrubbery.
  • Serene views for bed-bound patients in the Critical Care Unit to promote peace and joy while undergoing vital medical care.
  • The ability to better meet the needs of patients and their families by providing them with a private space to make critical decisions during their times of need.
