Why are you volunteering your time on the Baptist Health Foundation Hardin Board? This is an excellent community with decent, hard working people and it’s just a way to give back. The Foundation, both when it was known as the HMH Foundation and under its current moniker, has done great things such as securing a grant for the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit. These innovations give patients in the community the chance to receive outstanding care close to home.
What unique perspective do you bring to the board? I and other medical doctors on the board provide insight into the services needed at Baptist Health Hardin. We interact with people of all walks of life through our careers and can provide a much-needed medical perspective. I see myself as a representative of Baptist Health Hardin when I work with patients and feel a responsibility to earn their trust.
What does gratitude mean to you and what are you grateful for? I am grateful for my patients. In many cases, I work with women who are battling breast cancer and some of them face a troubling prognosis. Despite this, they are so grateful for the care they receive and that has taught me to be grateful for the things I have, such as my wonderful husband and the kindness of this community.
