The support from our donors speaks volumes in regard to the compassion we have in Southeastern Kentucky. It allows us to actively help our community. It's vital to invest in heart care because heart disease is the leading cause of disability and death. Early interventions and preventative measures can significantly improve outcomes as well as quality of life.

So investing in heart failure is really investing in the lives and the future of our community. At Baptist Health Corbin, we were one of the first facilities in the state to have a reds device for our patients. Our reds device helps care for patients with congestive heart failure. It gives us a non invasive and somewhat rapid assessment of the amount of fluid in their lungs with respect to heart failure.

And this allows us to make treatment plan adjustments, medication adjustments that can help keep them close to home. It's very difficult for the majority of patients with congestive heart failure to travel. Travel can be very stressful and a physical exertion can be more painful for their body physically. It's significantly more challenging.

So having this close to home really gives our patients a good option for local health care.

The support of the donors allows us to make an impact as a community on the quality of life in our region. And for that, we at Baptist Health Corbin are so thankful.
Amanda Brandon, PA-C, at Baptist Health Corbin Cardiology shares how donor support is transforming heart care in southeastern Kentucky. With philanthropy making advanced tools like the REDS device available locally, patients with congestive heart failure can receive faster, non-invasive assessments and timely treatment adjustments—without the burden of traveling long distances. This investment not only improves outcomes and quality of life, but also strengthens the future of the community.
