The NICU at Baptist Health Louisville is a fifteen bed, level three, neonatal intensive care unit. We take care of babies down to twenty six weeks gestation, which is really just fit right in the palm of your hand. And we provide very specialized high risk care. It's twenty fourseven neonatal and nursing support for babies needing respiratory support, low birth weight babies, babies with low blood sugar, diabetes, heart issues, birth defects, babies withdrawing from drugs, or prematurity.

The Foundation has been so instrumental in helping the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Baptist Health Louisville. Over the years they've provided so much support. Most recently they provided NICU cameras, which are little cameras that go right above the baby's head and you can see the face. So moms, dads, grandparents can all see that baby even when they can't be there at the bedside.

They have, sent our nurses off for training so that they have the most up to date evidence based practice to care for the babies. Even to the last expansion that we did, which was in twenty twenty one, we added four beds and the Foundation, helped to fund that so that we could increase the bed space for our babies. So to the donors who have helped us so much through their donations to the Foundation and the neonatal intensive care unit, I would say thank you. Thank you so much for caring for our most tiniest vulnerable patients.

So many lifesaving projects have come about because of donations from the Foundation and from the donors, so we thank you so much for all you've given in the past and hopefully in the future as well.
Bonnie Hibbs, DNP shares how the NICU at Baptist Health Louisville provides lifesaving care for the hospital’s smallest and most vulnerable patients. In this video, she highlights the specialized support given to premature and high-risk babies and how donor support through the Baptist Health Foundation has helped expand the unit, provide advanced training for nurses, and install NICU cameras so families can stay connected to their babies even when they cannot be at the bedside. Hear how these gifts are making a meaningful difference for families and caregivers every day.
