At Baptist Health Richmond, we are honored to be able to take care of the patients here in Madison County. We have many things to offer, whether it's outpatient workup with coronary CT angiograms, or if patients have emergent needs, have the ability to do heart catheterizations at our hospital and do interventions. Philanthropy is instrumental in cardiac care. We are very fortunate in cardiac care to have a great relationship with our foundation in philanthropy.

Cardiac care is one of those things that is constantly evolving and always there's new technology out there to give better care to our patients and it's really through donors giving that we are able to realize this. Through philanthropy we've been able to realize new equipment. One most important is the Starboard system. It's a system that allows our clinicians to use what we call a radial approach or going through the arm to be able to do a heart cath.

This is a positioning system that helps the patient be more comfortable, but also puts it in a very good position for clinicians as well. I think that's a win win, right? We help our patients as well as we help our clinicians do their job even better than they already do. I think the one thing I would love to say to donors is realizing the impact that they have on their community.

They may not see those patients' faces, but we do. And it makes a huge difference when we're able to give exceptional care and be able to see those patients out in the community later.
At Baptist Health Richmond, patients in Madison County have access to advanced cardiac care close to home—from outpatient coronary CT angiograms to lifesaving heart catheterizations and interventions. In this video, Erica Gregonis, MD, Chief Medical Officer, shares how philanthropy plays a critical role in keeping cardiac care at the forefront of innovation. Donor support has helped bring advanced technology, including the STARboard system, which enables a more comfortable radial (arm) approach for heart catheterizations while improving positioning for clinicians. Through philanthropy, Baptist Health Richmond continues to enhance patient outcomes, support care teams, and deliver exceptional heart care that makes a lasting impact across the community.
