Growing through giving: London family supporting hometown hospital

For Lauren and Caleb Taylor, every day starts with a little bit of chaos, and a whole lot of joy. With three children under the age of five and a home full of laughter, learning, and occasional messes, life is busy. But ask either of them and they’ll tell you: they wouldn’t trade it for anything.
“Our story involves these three little ones who, I mean, were really dream deliveries, for the most part,” Lauren said. “And I don’t take it lightly.”
Each one of their children – Lily Ray, Lincoln, and baby Luca – was born at Baptist Health Corbin, a place that's become more than a hospital to the Taylors. It’s a place they trust, a place they’re grateful for, and now, a place they’ve chosen to support.
Lauren and Caleb have been together for seven and a half years and married since July 2019. Though they grew up just half a mile apart and attended the same high school in London, it wasn’t until later in life that their paths finally crossed. Thirteen months after their wedding, Lily Ray arrived. Then came Lincoln, and most recently, Luca.
Each delivery came with its own surprises, and each was met with compassionate care. Lauren recalls having three different doctors for the three births.
“Dr. Bevans delivered Lily Ray,” she said. We got back to Dr. Thompson for Lincoln, but he came early, so Dr. Gilbert stepped in. We would joke at my appointments – ‘third time’s the charm!’ – and Dr. Thompson did deliver Luca, but just barely. She had sat down for lunch at the Mexican restaurant across the street and literally came running back!”
That quick action and team effort didn’t go unnoticed.
“Had Dr. Thompson not made it back from lunch, the room was full of people ready to step in and make sure we had a healthy and safe delivery, no matter what,” Lauren said.
Caleb also remembers the overwhelming emotions of Lincoln’s birth during the height of COVID-19.
“I was the only one allowed in there,” he said. “I was as white as that piece of paper. But they helped me through it.”
From nurses advocating for Lauren’s rest after a painful spinal headache, which can occur after an epidural, to students lending support and encouragement, the Taylors describe the Baptist Health Corbin team as steady, attentive, and always prepared – thanks in part to the generosity of donors who help make that level of care possible. So, when Lincoln developed RSV earlier this year, Caleb didn’t hesitate.
“We live one mile from another hospital,” he explained. “But when he was having severe breathing issues, I passed that ER and said, ‘I’m going to Corbin.’ We know he’s going to get the care he needs there.”
It was that consistent, trusted care that made their next decision an easy one. This year, Lauren and Caleb chose to give back, committing to ongoing donations to Baptist Health Corbin, with Labor and Delivery and NICU care at the forefront of their support.
“We’ve been very blessed,” Caleb said. “So, we try to give back in any way we can. Whatever that money can help, we’re all for it.”
