Bringing new technology and compassionate care to patients in southern Indiana
Vikas Singh, MD, really doesn’t want to see his patients again. He knows that statistically, the more his heart patients return to the hospital, the less likely they are to live long, healthy lives. That’s why he is excited to bring emerging technology to Baptist Health Floyd, so that residents of southern Indiana can receive quality, life-extending heart care without having to travel to another city to get it.
When Harvard Medical School was launching its new Structural Heart Program, Dr. Singh was one of only a few students invited to specialize in the area. He learned the new techniques, medicine and follow-up care almost as it was being created. Since then, he’s stayed at the forefront of the field, pioneering programs in multiple hospitals.
Now, Dr. Singh and his team have launched compassionate, patient-centered structural heart care at Baptist Health Floyd. In just a few short months, Dr. Singh and his team have seen tremendous success in the patients they’ve treated. In addition to the launch of a new heart failure clinic, heart care in southern Indiana has never been so promising. Dr. Singh’s team is on track to perform 100 minimally invasive, life-giving structural heart surgeries this year.
With his holistic medical approach, his patients are expected to live longer, healthier lives. Dr. Singh has seen his patients’ overwhelming gratitude when they realize that emerging healthcare solutions in his care provided them with more time with their families, a more active lifestyle and years of new experiences. Dr. Singh wants to see those gifts given to every patient who comes into his care.
A culture where gratitude is recognized and celebrated is just one reason why Dr. Singh is excited about the new Baptist Health Foundation Floyd. When patients receive quality care, they’re eager to show their appreciation, and donations given through the Foundation directly impact better technologies, better patient experiences, better medical staff and a healthier community.
Dr. Singh feels that philanthropic giving is an extension of patient care that allows staff and providers at Baptist Health Floyd to partner with the community to invest in the overall health and care of southern Indiana.
