Here at Baptist Health Lexington, we are a level three NICU. We can start with babies at twenty eight weeks and up. We offer a lot of respiratory support and a lot of times we just have premature babies too. Philanthropy has supported the NICU when it comes to new beds that we get to use and different products that really benefit our patients. It's important to invest in the NICU at Baptist because we care for the tiniest patients. We need equipment that is suitable to the gestational age that we are serving.

Being in the NICU, my favorite part about my job is just seeing how they grow. Their transition, they'll be a teeny tiny two pound baby and then you send them home and they're a whopping seven pounds. So it's so cool to see how they grow and how they develop.
At Baptist Health Lexington’s Level III NICU, specialized teams provide advanced care for premature and medically fragile babies born as early as 28 weeks. In this video, Loren Johnson, RN, shares how the NICU delivers critical respiratory support and specialized care tailored to each baby’s gestational age. She highlights the essential role philanthropy plays in providing advanced beds and equipment designed for the hospital’s tiniest patients—supporting their growth, development, and remarkable journeys from just a few pounds at birth to going home stronger with their families.
