One year of impactful community care at Baptist Health Hamburg

Since first opening its doors for care in April 2024, Baptist Health Hamburg has continued to grow into a trusted place for advanced outpatient care. Because of donor support, tens of thousands of patients from Lexington and surrounding Kentucky counties have been able to receive the expert care they deserve – just as Baptist Health Lexington President Chris Roty hoped when this journey began.
“You look at who we’ve been able to reach, and it’s just outstanding,” Chris said. “We’re located just off I-64 and I-75, so we're very accessible – not just for patients in central Kentucky, but Eastern Kentucky, too.”
Chris took over the helm of Baptist Health Lexington in 2021, 12 years after the land for Baptist Health Hamburg was purchased. For him, seeing the outpatient center come to life has been both personal and powerful.
“This was a long time in the making, and it’s incredibly rewarding to now see patients walk through the doors every day and get the care they need close to home,” Chris said. “It’s not just about the numbers, though those are impressive. It’s about what those numbers represent: the people in our community who are getting cancer treatments, heart care, imaging, or emergency help without delay.”
The Hamburg campus has seen nearly 60,000 patients in its first year – including nearly 6,000 cancer patients, 6,000 cardiovascular patients, 26,000 in general medicine, and more than 10,000 surgical cases. Its emergency department has served more than 20,000 patients, and radiology services have helped more than 25,000 people access critical diagnostics.
“Our team here is truly special,” Chris added. “They’ve embraced the vision and the community, and they’re delivering the kind of care that changes lives.”
Looking ahead, Chris said Baptist Health Hamburg is only getting started. While there’s no official timeline in place, the focus of growth for Hamburg would be an inpatient tower, and services separate from what’s already being offered down the road at Baptist Health Lexington.
“We’re growing because the need is there,” Chris said. “And because our donors believe in what this can become. Their belief is translating into real impact, and we’re so grateful.”
Thanks to donor support, Baptist Health Hamburg has become more than a medical facility; it's a symbol of progress, accessibility, and brighter futures for families across Kentucky.
“We’re growing because the need is there. And because our donors believe in what this can become. Their belief is translating into real impact, and we’re so grateful.”
