Investing in Better Care for All

For Meena Mohanty, the importance of local healthcare has always been evident. Through the happiest and hardest moments of her life, Baptist Health has been there every step of the way.

“From the birth of my children to end of life care for my dad, Baptist Health has been where we turned,” said Meena. “People will always need medical care, and in some instances that isn’t planned, and in others the frequency of required treatment makes having to travel outside of what you consider home a barrier that can prohibit care. Having a regional facility is invaluable as it alleviates the stress associated with travel expenses and being away from your support system. From women in labor to those benefitting from behavioral health treatment, Baptist Health Richmond is there to meet the needs of our community time and again.”

After being asked to join the board of directors, Meena has been able to witness the role Baptist Health Foundation Richmond has had in the evident progress through every facet of care.

“In order to facilitate growth, it is vital for everyone to get involved,” she said. “Personally, I started small, and when I was able to see the difference that just a little can do, it motivated me to get more involved. When you understand how far a dollar can go and when you realize the difference we can have when we join together, that is powerful, and the amount of good we can do when that happens is astounding.”

Meena realizes there is a constant need for innovation in order to remain at the forefront of healthcare. 

“We deserve better than basic care,” she said. “When we come together to support healthcare, we can elevate what our hospital is able to offer to our community. For each thing that we give, it comes back tenfold in ways that will help our friends, family and neighbors. From the addition of the Hercules™ repositioning system to the implementation of vein finders, Baptist Health is always looking for ways to improve and better meet our needs, and that is something that I am proud to have a hand in supporting.”
