When Linda Wittenback’s annual mammogram detected a suspicious spot, she was referred to Baptist Health Corbin Cancer Center. An ultrasound confirmed the abnormality, and her providers recommended a biopsy — but the scheduling system showed no available appointments that day.
That’s when nurse navigator Joyce Brown stepped in. “Joyce has had breast cancer twice and thyroid cancer,” Linda said. “She said, ‘I want you and [your husband,] Robert, to get some lunch. Come back and we’ll do the biopsy this afternoon.”
