Why do you volunteer in the community? Volunteering in the community gives me a sense of purpose. It strengthens my ties to the community and broadens my support network. I love out community and it’s the least I can do to help it grow.
What is the role that healthcare has played in your life or the lives of your family, friends or neighbors? Healthcare has played a huge and prominent role in my life. My father was a family physician and my mother was an ER nurse. Growing up with them as role models I saw first-hand the time and devotion spent to truly make an impact on others’ lives. Their examples of empathy and gratitude showed me the importance of giving back to the community.
Today, who or what are you most grateful for? Today I am most grateful for the health of my family and friends. Three years ago, I unexpectedly lost my mother. This event brought to light just how fragile life is and taught me to cherish even the most uneventful days. Life is short and we should make the most of each day.
