This New Year, let your “Why” make a difference

Why I Give

January is a time for reflection, resolutions and renewed purpose – a chance to ask yourself what matters most in the New Year.

At Baptist Health Foundation, our “why” is ensuring exceptional care and vital resources are always within reach for every patient and family we serve across Kentucky and southern Indiana.

Because behind every act of giving is a reason – a story or a moment of gratitude.

We're sharing words from our community members – from donors to employees and patients – about why giving to Baptist Health Foundation truly makes a difference.

“Through this giving, we’re God’s hands, we’re his mouthpiece. We’re giving the love that we’re supposed to give each other, and that’s what’s so great about the foundation and being part of it. It just makes me feel so good because I know that I’m not just caring for me and my family, but I’m helping so many out there that need it.”
Brenda Ferguson, Print Shop Courier, Baptist Health Corbin

“When I was a kid growing up, the hospital didn’t have a lot of resources, but since Baptist has taken it over, the care level has increased tremendously. As you get older – and I’m a few months away from being 70 – healthcare becomes way more important than it used to be. Having something like this just 20 minutes away is wonderful.”

“To me, if you are trying to put your money where it’s a blessing, this will be it. It may not sound like the donor has benefited, but the donor has benefited. I pass the word constantly, no matter who I’m talking to. I can’t say enough about this place. I want people to come because it’s good care.”
Rita Mathis, Baptist Health Richmond patient, on the care at the Robert L. Telford Cancer Center, renovated through donor funding

“Nowadays, people are struggling. I work for EMS, so I see the bad. I know that it can just turn your world upside down. I like to know that Baptist Health supports that, and if an employee needs help, it’s there when they need it.”
Tashana Anderson, EMS Captain/Office Coordinator, Baptist Health Floyd

“I am thankful for the resources we have access to that reduce barriers to care for those who do not have the means to travel. The conscious expansion of the scope of care and the specialty of services inspired me to want to get involved and help further the mission of healthcare for our region. It is evident across all departments that Baptist Health isn’t all talk – they ensure that their actions back up their words. This is an organization that has the best interest of patients at heart and is made up of employees who truly care about the people they are healing.”
Mike Cronan, Grateful Patient

“Really, what the magnet conference allowed for us was the ability to identify new opportunities that we can integrate into our own facility here at Baptist Health Lexington – that can provide better outcomes, better patient and staff satisfaction.”
Reece Schenkenfelder, RN, on attendance at the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet Conference, funded by donors

“They offered services I didn’t even know I needed. You never think you're going to get cancer at 47. But we were so comforted by the fact that they had a plan – even at the hospital with the colostomy bag. They came in and did a class with my husband and I on how to care for the stoma.”
Lynn McGeorge, Baptist Health Corbin patient, on care she received after diagnosis

“Throughout the entirety of the organization, just seeing how they look at a need, they look at what our community needs, what our patients needs are, and they then try to partner up with the community and the hospital to be able to meet those needs, to better our community and the services we provide to our patients.”
Lee Ann Morse, Director of Rehabilitation Services, Baptist Health Paducah

“When people think of Oldham County, they may assume everyone here is doing alright – healthy or wealthy or otherwise – but I don't think that's the case. If we can help those who potentially can’t help themselves through better healthcare, it’s awesome.”
Stephen Gibson, Board Member, Baptist Health Foundation Oldham

"I’ve seen the work the Foundation does with employees and their families – being able to provide for them when they’re at some of their weakest and most vulnerable moments, whether it’s through illness or loss. It’s a part of making Baptist who they are.”
Randi Brown, Nurse Manager of Labor and Delivery, Baptist Health La Grange
