Baptist Health Lexington

A successful campaign will leave a mark far beyond the walls of Baptist Health Lexington and allow us to serve more families in the Central and Eastern Kentucky region.

Incredible Impact

When anchor institutions like hospitals invest in their communities, the impact they make is immeasurable. This impact is economic — it creates jobs. The impact is cultural — it ensures a quality and way of life today and far into the future. The impact is personal — real lives are saved.

WHY THIS PROJECT, WHY NOW

As a not-for-profit community hospital, the needs of our community come first. This campaign is a direct result of analyzing those needs and prioritizing the most efficient and effective road forward. The simple fact is our community is aging, the need for specialized care has never been greater. Our community is experiencing population growth and territorial expansion and making healthcare accessible in these neighborhoods is critical to supporting this growth. Our community is burdened by cancer, heart disease and other health crises—new innovations and ways of caring must be pursued. The following is an overview of where your collaboration and partnership can both support your community’s health needs best:

  • Mission Advancement: When you give to the Baptist Health Foundation Lexington Mission Advancement Fund, you don’t give to the Foundation, you give through the Foundation. Your gift supports a culture of innovation and compassion. Gifts go to work immediately for such things as: providing complementary therapies, transportation and medication assistance, state-of-the-art equipment, technologies that bridge innovation and communication, programmatic upgrades and facility improvements throughout our Lexington hospital and surrounding points of care.
  • Nursing: Nurses are at the center of our healthcare experience. Time and time again, they serve as a living example of compassion, collaboration and joy–a kind of societal glue that holds us all together. Your support provides education scholarships, research, facility upgrades and equipment upgrades to better support nurses as they care for you and your family.
  • Baptist Health Hamburg: As the cornerstone of this campaign, supporting the Hamburg project accelerates progress, enhances patient, loved ones and care provider experiences and brings a new dawn to innovation, access and preventative care to Central and Eastern Kentucky.

If we focus on what the patients need and what makes their life easier, I think that's what we should all be doing, and at Baptist, I found that's been paramount.

- [Dr. Ruschman]

I think having a hospital on the I-75 corridor will really shave minutes off of things that are very time-sensitive.

- [Katie]

I was excited when I learned that Baptist Health was going to be expanding their facilities to the Hamburg area because I know that, that will provide a high level of care from emergency room to cardiac care to a whole new area of the community and a new area of the region.

- [Chris]

We have a great responsibility to our community to provide access and to provide excellent care. We're really excited about the Hamburg project. It's a very populated area. And while there's a lot of retail in Hamburg, in some physician offices, there is no medical facility there at this time.

So, it's going to allow Baptist to come to the people where they live, work, and play.

- [Dr. Dodd]

If you look at a map where 75 and 64 kind of converge, Hamburg is a perfect hub for all those people. And we have a mantra in emergency medicine that time is tissue. And so, there's certain diagnoses where minutes and even seconds can really matter.

- When I was 29 years old, I began experiencing some heart palpitations, some instances of passing out. Testing led to the conclusion that I had a rare heart condition called arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia, which means I have a large heart that develops arrhythmias. I am always happy to share my story and my experience with Baptist Health because it's been a gift to me to have the care that I have through Baptist Health. I've been incredibly blessed to have Dr.

Tomassoni and his staff in my life. I've been in the ICU there, I've been in the ER there, I've been in the cath lab there. The staff at Baptist Health have always provided not only high-level care, but also very compassionate and loving care to me.

- I think it all comes back to the golden rule, and that's one of the most important things, I think. In very difficult situations, I'm looking at somebody at very difficult, you know, conversations with patients and their family. At the end of the day, for me, it all boils down to that. ♪ [music]

♪ - When it comes to health and long-term outcomes, access to quality healthcare is essential. You can't put a price on your health.

- Baptist Health was built through philanthropy. They had the vision, but they didn't have the funds. And so, they traveled and ended up developing relationships with many gracious donors, which, this is why we have the hospital we have today.

- It is reassuring as a person who has needed it to know that there's now a new place that care can be accessed for myself and for others. I think that it says a lot about our community that we are willing to put our resources, our time, our effort, our money into making sure that we can provide a high level of care to our friends and neighbors. ♪ [music]

Access Innovation

  • Access Matters

When life becomes unpredictable, the comfort in knowing help is nearby fills us with hope. Communities exist for this very reason, and so do community hospitals. However, real hope goes beyond proximity, it’s about people, it’s about the ability to pay and it’s about the highest level of care possible. Access to care is about everyone, every time.
  • Experiences are Personal

Perhaps nothing is as personal as our health. Here we wrestle with all that we believe. We face emotional extremes, doubts, fears and even joy. When loved ones are facing a health crisis—action is taken to soothe and comfort their experience. It’s what makes us human. Healthcare is as much mental and spiritual as it is physical. Healing environments change experiences and they change outcomes.
  • Innovation Saves Lives

Imagination and inspiration are real. They exist because problems exist. In healthcare, when breakthrough ideas produce breakthrough technologies, it’s a responsibility to ensure they’re available in our communities. Being given the best possible chance cannot be left up to chance, it must be tenaciously pursued.
