Longtime best friends Katie Hutchinson and Dani Evans have a lot in common: They attended the same high school, work together at the same tech firm, and have immense pride in Southern Indiana, where they were both born and raised. It’s this shared enthusiasm for their hometown that inspires them to support Baptist Health Floyd.

“We want this side of the river to thrive. In order for that to happen, we have to have everything we need over here, including high-quality healthcare,” says Katie.

Katie says all her nieces and nephews were born at Baptist Health Floyd, and it’s where she seeks care as well. “There are other hospital options in Southern Indiana, but this is where I go for the greatest care.”

The same is true for Dani Evans and her family.

“My husband, Justin, had cystic fibrosis, and Baptist Health Floyd was his hospital. He refused to go anywhere else. He loved his doctors and all the staff there,” she says. “I spent a lot of hours at Baptist Health Floyd; it was like a second address at one point.

“Not only was he cared for, but I was cared for, too.”

Having access to quality healthcare close to home was essential given how frequently her husband needed care such as breathing treatments, blood draws and scans. That was especially true as his disease progressed.

Ensuring Southern Indiana residents have convenient access to leading-edge care is why both Dani and Katie support the Baptist Health Foundation Floyd, which was launched earlier this year to raise money specifically for the hospital.

“I want to make sure Baptist Health Floyd has all the things that every other hospital has. I want them to have everything they need to offer the best possible care to residents on this side of the river,” says Katie, founder and CEO of Southern Indiana-based consulting firm KHIT. Several years ago, Dani came on board at KHIT as director of client development and education, and together they are committed to supporting numerous local organizations that are making a positive difference — and Baptist Health Foundation Floyd is at the top of the list. In fact, both women are members of the President’s Circle, the Foundation’s most prestigious annual giving recognition society.

“We want to help make our local hospital as desirable as possible for patients and for prospective healthcare providers. We want to help with that in any way we can — spreading the word, donating what we can, and hopefully inspiring others to do the same.”
