With the world at his fingertips, Timothy Dawson, MD, found a home at Baptist Health Floyd after finishing his residency.

“It was important for me to be able to take care of entire families,” Dr. Dawson said. “Across southern Indiana, people are entrusting us with their health and the well-being of their loved ones, and it is not something that I take lightly. The ability to create personal relationships with those I am able to help during some of the most difficult times of their lives is something I wanted to be a part of.”

Three years later, Dr. Dawson stands by his decision noting that there is no one else in the region that can provide the same level of care while caring so deeply for the patients they are treating.

“I began my journey with Baptist Health Floyd around the same time we began using our first surgical robot,” he said. “Since then, most of the surgeons on staff have undergone robotic training. Now, we are able to continually push each other to grow and challenge ourselves to find new, innovative ways to best serve our patients.”

A few years after the introduction of robotic surgery to Baptist Health Floyd, the hospital expanded the program to include three separate da Vinci surgical robots that are utilized to advance care and the patient experience across multiple specialties.

“For a hospital of our size to have three robots is a testament of how important patient satisfaction is to us and speaks volumes to our dedication to remain on the cutting edge of healthcare,” said Dr. Dawson.

“There are benefits across the board for our patients ranging from less recovery time following a procedure to increased ability for complex surgeries. We are bringing advanced care to a smaller community ensuring that they have the same quality of care that is available in metropolitan areas without having to leave the comfort of home or incur additional travel costs.”

For Dr. Dawson, New Albany “is a small-town setting with big-town potential,” and he is looking to the future. “Through our partnership with Baptist Health Foundation Floyd, community members have the opportunity to join together to meaningfully impact thousands through the act of one. The ability for those who rely on us for care to have a hand in helping us to grow our footprint and cater to meet actual needs they have sets Baptist Health apart.”

“I would trust that my family and friends could receive the best possible care here. I think that says it all.”
